Eligibility and Requirements for Nomination


2021 Nominations Accepted January 11 - February 22, 2021

The Office of the Provost, in cooperation with The University Research Committee, annually recognizes Emory faculty for outstanding contributions to scientific research through the Albert E. Levy Award for Excellence in Scientific Research.

One junior faculty will be awarded $1,000 in research funding and $2000 in research funding will be awarded one senior faculty member.  (Faculty rank: associate or above) 

Levy Awards are chosen by the previous year's Levy Award recipients in collaboration with University Research Committee Co-Directors from nominations submitted to the URC by Emory faculty, or by self-nomination.

Disciplines Qualifying for Nomination

Faculty members of Emory College, Oxford College, and Emory University

Qualifying areas of research for nomination:

  • Biological Sciences
  • Chemical Sciences
  • Mathematics
  • Physical Sciences
  • Social Sciences

Nomination Requirements

Nominations may be submitted by Emory faculty or by self-nomination.

Nomination documents must include (please combine, in the following order, all documents into one pdf per nominee):

  1. A one to two sentence description of the nominee (two sentence maximum);
  2. Three letters of nomination from Emory faculty (persons outside of Emory may indicate support by signing letters submitted by Emory faculty);
  3. Representative publications:  Copies of up to three peer reviewed paper(s) published within the last two calendar years;
  4. What impact did the nominee's publications have upon their field of study?  Please limit this response to no more than two paragraphs.

  2. Levy Award Nomination Category: Junior Faculty or Senior Faculty (select one)
